There is a common perception today that women are more religious than men. I don’t think this has always been true historically, and in some religions, especially non-Christian religions, this is not true today. So for example, in the contemporary United States, about 65% of practising Hindus and Muslims are men. So I think we need to think about the association of women with Christianity as not something that’s natural – that women are naturally religious somehow – but that there have been historical events and historical reasons for the association of women with religion and women with Christianity.
