I’m willing to say that Jesus invented hypocrisy. That is, not that he was a hypocrite, but it was he who took this word “hypocrite”, which is simply the technical Greek word for an actor, and insisted that it was the secrets of the subconscious, if you like, even, or the secrets of the heart, more importantly the intentions of the heart, which got to the truth of a person and not his displayed appearance and so on.
Churches and people like me of course should be held up to exposure – just as we do with each other in the community. Anyway, our community is totally committed to the truth of Jesus’ principle that the secrets of the heart are where you are really put to the test.
