Bonhoeffer is widely referred to – I was going to say exploited – by people on various points of the Christian political spectrum, because there’s nothing more heroic than somebody who stands up against the Nazis, right, the great symbol of evil in the modern world. And he did. Whether they understand everything that Bonhoeffer taught is another question. But everybody can admire him for standing up against obvious evil.
