People say there's nothing that can quite prepare you to be a parent. That's probably because through the highs and lows, you learn as much about the best (and worst) of yourself as you do about your child. Justine Toh and the God Forbid panel dwell on the spiritual lives of parents and children.

In this episode:

The gulf separating the kind of parent you want to be and the kind of parent you actually tend to be can be huge. Nothing gives you a new perspective on yourself than raising a child.

Children live in an enchanted world, so how do you raise them to cope with reality without breaking the spell?

When something bad happens — like a miscarriage — it provides an opportunity for children to comfort their parents just as much as the other way around.
